RES Polyflow finds a West Coast partner for energy recovery

Energy recovery company RES Polyflow announced the formation of ENRETEC, a Nevada-based company that will direct the implementation of energy recovery sites in the Western U.S. featuring RES Polyflow’s patented end-of-life plastic recycling technology. The joint venture is owned and operated by RES Polyflow and principals of the development and implementation team, investor group Polyflow West. RES Polyflow CEO Jay Schabel said the ENRETEC joint venture is a pivotal first step toward full commercialization. Can San Francisco’s end-of-life waste model work elsewhere?

Plasticstoday The Atlantic recently published an interesting article that went behind the scenes with San Francisco’s “first-of-its-kind” trash monitoring and neighborhood outreach program. Part of the crew’s job, according to the article, is to track waste and ensure that citizens are throwing the trash in the correct bin. The city’s residents are required by law to separate their waste into three colored bins – compost, recycling and landfill. read more

Plastic film recycling reaches one billion lb

The recycling of plastic film increased by 4% to reach one billion lb annually in 2011 for the first time, according to a report by Moore Recycling Associates , on behalf of the American Chemistry Council (ACC). The category of plastic film includes plastic bags, product wraps and commercial shrink film and the report stated that the recycling of plastic film has grown 55% since 2005.  read more
