Shanghai, China- Celanese Corporation (Dallas, TX) will expand its compounding capabilities at its Nanjing, China, site to include Fortron polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounds. The PPS compounding expansion is expected to be operational by year-end 2014. Currently the firm compounds PBT, LCP and POM materials there The capacity will be capable of compounding recently launched PPS products such as CES50 and ICE, which Celanese was highlighting at the recent Chinaplas show. Shanghai, China-The focus at the Husky (Bolton, ON) stand at Chinaplas was reduced variability; in concrete terms precise temperature control, synchronized gate opening and closing, and thermal uniformity in hot runner systems. To realize the latter, Husky designers are now using thermal FEA (finite element analysis) to optimize each manifold, meaning the resin traveling to each cavity has an identical thermal history. Shanghai, China –  Dow Chemical launched Pack Studios Shanghai, its collaborative concept that aims to accelerate the development of packaging innovation, during Chinaplas 2014.
