  Solvay is looking for North American manufacturing partners for an innovative vinyl composite technology introduced earlier this year in Europe after six years of research and development. The two products in the line are described by Solvay as the first long and continuous fiber vinyl composites.  One, called FibroVin, developed with Fibroline (Lyon, France), is made from long glass fibers impregnated with PVC powder.   A new acrylic alloy is taking direct aim at injection molded polycarbonate and copolyesters used in IV line components requiring chemical resistance. Tests of the new material from Altuglas International, a subsidiary of Arkema, indicate that the new material, called Altuglas Luctor, resists attack from alcohols, lipid emulsions, plasticizers, TPN solutions, and new-generation oncology drugs. Glass roving optimized for acrylic composites

A new glass roving specifically designed and formulated for acrylic resins allows for the manufacture and production of glass reinforced PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) thermoplastic composites. From 3B-the fibreglass company (Battice, Belgium), the roving employs E-CR glass, which is an alumino-lime silicate with less than one weight-percent of alkali oxides that exhibits high acid resistance.
