Production of medical devices in Mexico is expected to grow by 74% from 2011 to 2020, rising from $8,562 to $14,914 million. The overall annual growth rate over that time of 6.4% will outpace other NAFTA countries as well as Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. According to ProMexico, the Mexican government pro-trade organization, there were 2321 “economic units” in the country related to devices in 2010. With the NBA Draft and the mind blogging Pierce-Garnett trade to the Nets (what is going on in Boston) still dominating headlines, I decided to take a look at a creative shoe packaging design. Nissei sets up second overseas production base in Thailand

Japanese machine builder Nissei Plastic Industrial (Nagano) has completed construction of a plant in Thailand for manufacturing injection presses. Full-scale operation is slated to commence in May, with output targeted at Thailand, elsewhere in Southeast Asia, and West Asia, as well as utilizing FTA (Free Trade Agreement) and EPA (Economic Partnership Agreement) to strategize global sales.
