Japan’s Asahi Kasei Chemicals (Tokyo) has finalized a decision to construct a 30,000 tonnes/year plant for plastic compounds in Athens, Alabama, as the second plant of its US subsidiary Asahi Kasei Plastics North America, Inc. (APNA, Fowlerville, MI). The facility is expected to start up in early 2016 and compound the company’s Thermylene polypropylene (PP), Leona polyamide (PA) 66 products, among others.
