Medical molders step up to equip college plastics lab

Local Salt Lake City molders have stepped up with equipment donations that could wind up training their future workforce. The Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) has opened a new Plastics Lab at its Meadowbrook campus that’s equipped with a RoboShot 110-ton injection molding machine donated by BD Medical, as well as an Objet 3-D Printer and a steel negative part mold donated by BARD Access Systems. All eyes on polystyrene foam packaging

First it was soda. Now it’s on to polystyrene foam. In his final State of the City address, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg called for a citywide ban on polystyrene foam food packaging from stores and restaurants. In June, Bloomberg introduced legislation to prohibit polystyrene foam. Bans of polystyrene foam for food packaging are nothing new. In fact, the first U.S. ban of general polystyrene foam was enacted in Berkeley, CA back in 1988. Ecover to open its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Chicago

Ecover has decided to plant its U.S. manufacturing roots in the Windy City. The Belgium-based ecological cleaning brand recently announced that it will build a flagship manufacturing facility in the Pullman Park neighborhood on Chicago’s south side. The new space, which will bring about 100 manufacturing jobs to Chicago, comes after a long effort to bring the company’s first U.S manufacturing facility to Illinois. read more
