The reliability of a hydraulic injection molding machine often comes down to how well the seals perform. They must endure literally millions of molding cycles. Leading machine builder Arburg GmbH (Loßburg, Germany) turns to Trelleborg Sealing Solutions (Stuttgart, Germany) for the polytetrafluoroethylene- (PTFE) based seals employed in its machines, which incidentally are also molded by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions on Arburg machines. KraussMaffei ramps up China injection machine production

Chinese automotive component suppliers are increasingly relying on German engineering expertise in order to attract global automobile manufacturers with high parts quality. Buoyed by this trend, German injection machine builder KraussMaffei (Munich) recently decided to double the production area at its plant in the Chinese city of Haiyan. Through the development of its new polyurethane (PUR) matrix resin, Loctite MAX 3, Henkel (Dusseldorf, Germany) says it has taken a further important step toward fully automated series production of composite components for the automotive industry. In collaboration with KraussMaffei, the company has developed a process for the manufacture of components based on glass or carbon fiber and using high-pressure resin transfer molding (HP-RTM) technology that creates a surface quality good enough for automobile exteriors.
