Engel will have several automotive-related displays at its stand (Hall 15, B42 and C58). The company partnered with ZF-Friedrichshafen to create a plastic brake pedal. Engel will offer visitors a first glimpse into the manufacturing process for the award-winning part. Ecover to open its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Chicago

Ecover has decided to plant its U.S. manufacturing roots in the Windy City. The Belgium-based ecological cleaning brand recently announced that it will build a flagship manufacturing facility in the Pullman Park neighborhood on Chicago’s south side. The new space, which will bring about 100 manufacturing jobs to Chicago, comes after a long effort to bring the company’s first U.S manufacturing facility to Illinois. read more

Medical Musings: China eyes bigger role in biomedicine

All Sites Plastics processors who want to be global, long-term players in the medical device market need to be realistic about China. I 100% support manufacturing in the United States, but it’s naïve to think there will be a net inflow of manufacturing jobs into the United States from China (i.e., the reshoring media blitz). Yes, there are a lot of bad manufacturers in China. But they are being weeded out just as they have been in the United States over the last 20 years. read more
