Conair continued its rollout of Web-enabled machine controls at PLASTEC West this week. After introducing the concept last year on some of its auxiliary equipment, the company chose the 2014 event to showcase its TrueFeed gravimetric blenders that now can be accessed via Internet-connected devices. I 100% support manufacturing in the United States, but it’s naïve to think there will be a net inflow of manufacturing jobs into the United States from China (i.e., the reshoring media blitz). Yes, there are a lot of bad manufacturers in China. But they are being weeded out just as they have been in the United States over the last 20 years. read more

Sabic adds bimodal HDPE blowmolding grades to product portfolio

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) is entering the bimodal high density polyethylene (HDPE) market, with plans to start commercial production this year. “Some processors are concerned about future supply of bimodal HDPE grades from Europe, so we think this is the right time for us to support the market by including bimodal HDPE blowmolding grades in Sabic’s product portfolio,” said Mario Scholle, business manager of bimodal HDPE at SABIC, in the news release.
