Adhesion promoter bonds aluminum, polyamide in injection molding process

An insert molding process employing a co-polyamide adhesion promoter to bond aluminum tubing with fiberglass-reinforced polyamide 6 is being used by Mercedes Benz in several of its vehicles to derive weight savings. The aluminum tubing employed in the vehicles connects both A-pillars together and supports the entire dashboard-from the steering wheel to the glove compartment. Navtar builds medical extrusion plant in Costa Rica

Navtar, a producer of close-tolerance tubing components, will start manufacturing in a new plant in Costa Rica this June to meet the growing need for medical plastics extrusion in the country. Arkema launches hydrophilic elastomer for catheters

Riding the wave of accelerating use of thermoplastic elastomers in medical tubing applications, Arkema is launching a new flexible, hydrophilic Pebax grade. Hydrophilic Pebax MV1074 SA 01 MED polymer is described as suitable for use in minimally invasive devices that are exposed to bodily fluids for less than 30 days, such as surgical tubing. It is a polyether block amide copolymer that is USP VI certified and is said to offer excellent high moisture absorption properties for device components in wet environments, such as catheters.
