Chemtech Plastics has purchased a second building and lot adjacent to the company’s current location in Elgin, IL, with plans to add 12-14 injection molding machines as innovative molding and assembly cells spur growth for the custom molder. The building will provide an additional 60,000 square feet of manufacturing and warehouse space. Chemtech currently operates out of a 70,000-sq-ft facility. Developing Asia the center of global automobile production

The developing Asia-Pacific region will account for 62% of overall growth in global automobile production between 2012 and 2017 according to the latest data from PwC Autofacts (New York, NY). The region, including key markets China and India, will contribute 62.0% of gains in vehicle assembly  over the period whereas developed Asia, which includes major auto producers Japan and South Korea, will see its output decline by 3.5%. GW Plastics reshores two large medical jobs

Two big medical reshoring projects have prompted a significant expansion at GW Plastics in the Southwest. A 12,000 square foot clean room expansion is now open at its Tucson, AZ plant for medical device assembly and packaging. Company officials said that a program currently in production at GW’s Dongguan, China facility consisting of precision molding, assembly and packaging for a drug delivery device created the opportunity for the development of a new application with the same customer. Dr Margaret Chan nominated for a second term to be WHO Director-General

18 January 2012 — Dr Margaret Chan was nominated today by the WHOs Executive Board for a second term as Director-General of the Organization. If confirmed by the World Health Assembly, Dr Chan’s new term will begin on 1 July 2012 and continue until 30 June 2017.
